Description
uisce beatha,' which is literally translated as water of life, the phrase from which whisky is derived. These Irish translations are the work of Prof. Janet Egleson Dunleavy, who teaches the Irish language and Irish literature at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Mrs. Dunleavy is not Irish herself, a fact well hidden because she can tell a story and enrapture a listener in a manner that any real Irishman would covet. The myths about leprechauns, those mischievous little people most of us associate with Ireland, were mostly spun by Irish immigrants.

Photo measures 7.5 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 05-17-1976.
