1956 Press Photo Offices across the country shut down by the US Internal Revenue

Communists-U.S.---Closed in the Midwest, too: Offices of the Communist newspaper, the Daily Worker, called the "Illinois DuSable Edition" are padlocked by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service officer March 27, in a federal tax lien action. The Midwest edition is a weekly, published Sundays, from offices in the Loop (36 W. Randolph.) Action by government agents occurred in Chicago at the same time similar pad locking took place in New York and other cities.
