Description
The port of St. Vincent in the Cape Verde Islands rests on a slope with mountains in the distance. The Cape Verdes are a group of ten islands and five islets lying off the west coast of Africa and belong to Portugal. During the last war the British and Portuguese Navies used the islands as bases. Now with aviation playing a major role in the present war they have strategic importance for the Western Hemisphere as well as for Europe.
