1983 Press Photo Milkweed unfurled silken parachutes for autumn wind dispersal

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
These brief looks at nature were seen during a walk in a wooded area near Crandon. The photographs included a flying squirrel (upper left) as it hoarded acorns and seed in a hollow log as it prepared for winter. A closeup photograph of milkweed (upper) sparkled as seeds unfurled their silken parachutes to aid the dispersal on autumn winds. Left: A weathered log cabin was abandoned to the elements.

Photo is dated 1983.

Photo measures 7.5 x 9.75 inches.
