1952 Press Photo Ladies Fair Program at Fond du Lac's Centennial Program

Fond du Lac's Centennial Program got off a flying start today and the weatherman, although hesitant, cast a smiling eye on the crowds that thronged to Lakeside Park to take part in this huge celebration program. The moring crowd, mostly ladies, took part in the nationwide broadcast of the Tom Moore Ladies Fair program in the open air amphitheater on Athletic Island, The carnival with rides, concessions and thrills, captured the hearts of the kids. The evening highlight was the first performance of the sensational Fond du Lac Cavacade, the historical pageant put on under lights in the large open air theater on the island. A cast of 600 took part in this spectacle. The Honorable Mayor Edwin Weis of Fond du Lac, welcomed the visitors and crowned the Centennial Queen and her court. A Barn Dance with Square dances for the spectators closed the show. In the photo, Vellma Weller, Nancy Nimmer, Joan Kroll, Elsie Werdin, Jean Wood, Mayor Edwin Weis, Centennial Queen LaVilla Gladis, Arlene Buck, Marilyn Wiedenmeier, Donna Flemming, Helen Schroeter, Donna Du Quette, Nadine Malson, Joan Mosac and Helen Peale acted as pages.
