Deaf Mutes Perform Stage Play In Vienna: Deaf mutes in Vienna have proved beyond doubt that it is not necessary to be able to speak and to hear to be an actor, in fact the ability to convey meaning in mime and gestures and to get the meaning over to the audience, is proof of an actor's capabilities. The play "The Gipsy's Revenge" was a 15th Century dramatic love story and was produced and written by a deaf muts. The play was performed at the Hotel Post in Vienna and was received with enthusiasm by the audience. The plot was conveyed by gestures and expressions and deaf and dumb sign language being used where necessary. The Deaf Mutes Union were inspired to produce their play following the success of the film "Johnny Belinda" in which the chief character is a deaf mute.
