Dr. Bernhard Brennecke, a gynecologist in Wolfsburg, was found dead at his residence. His wife Ruth Brennecke and his daughter Doris were taken into custody for questioning where they confessed to slaying the doctor during a family argument. The marriage had long been destroyed, with the doctor being a heavy drinker as well as a morphine addict. A lack of money had driven the family to hard economic times.
Pictured on the left is the door to the doctor's practice. It reads "away on business until August 30, 1956."
On the right are the weapons used to murder the doctor: a knife, flatiron, letter opener, and a broken wine bottle, as well as the doctors glasses and umbrella.
