Author Siegfried Lenz Will Be 50 On March 17th 1976: Author Siegfried Lenz (picture) will become 50 years old on March 17th 1976. Born in Lyck/East Prussia, where he also grew up, he studied philosophy, literature and English philology to become a teacher. 1950 he became a feuilleton editor at a weekly in Hamburg, where he lives now as a free-lance author. Some of his best-known novels are: "Brot and Spiele" (Bread and Games, 1959), "Stadtgesprach" (The talk of the town, 1962), "Zeit der Schuldlosen" (Time of the Guiltless, 1961) and "Deutschstunde" (German lesson, 1968). Stories: "So zartlich war Suleyken" (How tender Suleyken was, 1955), "Der Geist der Mirabelle - Geschichten sus Bollerup" (The ghost of the Mirabelle - Stories from Bollerup, 1974) and his latest one "Einstein uberquerte die Elbe bei Hamburg" (Einstein crossed the river Elbe near Hamburg, 1975).
