The Family of Kidnapped Airman. Egypt Crisis Over Kidnapped London Airman.
A sharp new crisis blew up suddenly between Britain and Egypt. In Ismailia, British Military base in the Canal Zone, and in Cairo, the situation is tense. It follows the kidnapping of a British Airmen, L.A.C., A.V. Rigden. The British gave the Egyptian Government until 9 a.m. to return him. And, as at that time the British received only a flat rejection to their demand, British troops went into action. British paratroopers of the 16th. Airborne Division, clamped down stringent traffic controls in Ismailia. Roadblocks were manned and heavy machine guns were set up.
