Gunman emerges from besieged cottage to collect food â John James, the Shropshire gunman besieged in his cottage at Weston-under-Redcastle, emerged for the first time yesterday to collect groceries. He carried his shotgun under his arm. James walked six paces to an outhouse wall and collected a loaf of bread, a tin of luncheon meat, butter and water left by his brother-in-law, Mr. Tom Hadlington. It is now six days since James barricaded himself in the cottage with his wife Joyce and four children. Keystone Photo Shows: One of the children seen at one of the cottage windows.
