Ancient Royal Barge under repair at National Maritime Museum - Greenwich: The Royal Barge built for Prince Frederick son of George II in 1732 is now at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. It is being repaired on the spot for exhibition. The barge is 60 ft. long and had 21 cars. It is beautifully carved and has a fine cabin. During the last century the barge was redecorated for use by the Prince Consort and bears Queen Victoria's arms. Photo shows the 60 ft. long barge as David Chenoweth a ship's Carpenter (right) and his assistant John Gunn work on the hull and port side at the Museum this morning.
