Giant Tanker Captains Train at Artificial Lake Centre.: Scale models of giant tankers, with full navigational equipment, are being used on a 7 1/2 ~~~ artificials lake, complete with model port and a generator producing "waves", to provide training facilities for caotains and pilots of those vessels from all over the world. The Esso-Standard Naval Research and Test Station at Port Revel, near Grenoble, France, which was inauggurated this week, is the first international training centre of its kind. It has been built at a cost of over 280,000 and is capable of training 150 captains and pilots a year. Photo shows A 1:25 scale medal if Essi Brittany, a 190,000-ton tanker now under construction at St. Nazaire, "streaming" on Lake Rovel. The 40 ft. model can accomodate five people.
