7th century burial ground unearthed in Hungary: Students have assisted archaeologists in unearthing a burial place at Szekszard, Western Hungary, that dates back to the period of the migration. More than 300 graves have been opened so far in the cemetery of the Avars, a Turkio race that briefly resided in the Carpathian Basin in the 7th/8th centuries in one of successive waves of migrating federations of tribes, most of them coming from the steppes of the present day Soviet Union and even beyond the Urals.
