No Traffic Hazards for Ginza Shoppers in Tokyo; Tokyo police barred traffic on the Ginza, the city's main street, to prevent shoppers from being injured as they did their window gazing looking for bargains and presents for Christmas and New Year. Although most workers have received their year end bonuses they are being careful in spending it because of inflation, and fear of recession and unemployment in the new year. Department stores report poor sales this year end. At some sections of the Ginza middle of the road cafes were set up for tired window shoppers.
