Two Seats to a New Life Together. Hand in Hand, Tom Swinhoe and his wife Joan, who is 28 tomorrow, sit on the train that took them yesterday from King's Cross, London, to a new life at their home in West Denton, Newcastle upon Tyne. Tom, also 28, offered his left kidney to be transplanted to his wife when she was found to have a kidney disease. The operation - first of its kind for a husband and wife - was successful at Hammer smith Hospital, London.
