The man who only plays to an empty house.: Leonard Edmunds was the soloist in Mandel~~~'s Violin Concerto at the ~~~ £150,000 Alderburgh Festival Hall yesterday. There was no orchestra to accompany him. No audience to applaud him. Mr. Edmunds is a carpenter who likes to spend his lunch hours playing his violin (he made it himself for £18) in the empty concert hall. Benjamin Britton, the composer who started and now organises this annual music festival on the Suffolk coast, is grateful to Mr. Edmunds. "He is a gifted amateur," he says, "His playing had helped i~~~~~~ly to judge the acoustics of the hall. In 15 days time the Queen will open the new hall and the first concert will take place there. Photo shows Leonard Edmunds pictured yesterday playing in the new Concert Hall.
