Description
Judge to decide whether Baillffs can go into Minister's home.: A High Court judge was deciding today whether Mr. John Mcelrea an oil company representative can out bailiffs in to Environment Minister, Mr. Anthonhy Crosland's home and seize 20,000 of his furniture and possessions. Mr. Crosland's goods up to that amount are under threat because Mr. McElrea has tired of waiting for compensation for the pulling down of his cottage in Portslade, Brithgton, pwing to road widening. He has called in the bailiffs to enforce payment by the department in the form of its political head. The Environment Department originally offered 2,600 for the property, which Mr. McElrea cosidered too low. Finally, he was awarded 20,532 compensation through the Lands Tribunal. Photo shows Mr. John McElrea pictured after today's hearing.
