Description

Launching the tanker "Sir Winston Churchill": The 95,000-ton tanker, "Sir Winston Churchill", was launched yesterday at Syan Hunter and Wigham Richards Yard, at Wallsend. Spectators climbed a nearby wall to watch the monster tanker which slid into the Tyne with very little margin to spare. Mrs. Beryl Maudling performed the launching ceremony. Photo Shows Mrs. Beryl Maudling with the tanker owner from Norway, Mr. Nilmar Reksten, on the launching platform.
