Author of Exodus sued for libel - Leon Uris, author of the best-selling book "Exodus'' flew in to London from America to give evidence in the High Court, where he is being sued for libel by Dr. Wladyslaw Dering, a former Auschwitz prisoner and surgeon, now practicing in London. Dr. Dering claims the statement in the book that he performed 17,000 experiments in surgery without anesthetics, make him appear a "human monster'' on a par with the German fiends, whereas he was doing all in his power to relieve suffering among the prisoners.
