Australian Mayor Retracts Prince Charles Insult
Councillor Jim Duggan, the Australian Mayor who called Prince Charles 'a crank' - yesterday changed his mind. Councillor Duggan, of St. Kilda, near Melbourne, attacked the prince for saying during the royal tour earlier this year that swimming at St. Kilda was like 'bathing in diluted sewage'. But last night, after his mayoral term had expired, Councillor Duggan reasserted his devotion to the monarchy and described himself as a "returned soldier and loyalist."
