1979 Press Photo Joggers stop at flooded footbridge over Buffalo Bayou, Houston

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Spring, as long-time Houstonians know, means more than just casual showers. The bayous that wind through the southeast Texas landscape swell with torrential rains that lumber in from the Gulf. Flooded streets and highways often require drivers to find alternate routes to their destinations. Joggers are not immune to the after-effects of Gulf Coast thunderstorms, as these two find out at a flooded footbridge that spans Buffalo Bayou west of downtown. Floods - Houston, Texas.

Photo is dated 1979.

Photo measures 8 x 9.75 inches.
