Description
This is the site of Tidewater Oil Company's first test in West Pakistan, which was spudded in recently. It will be a 12,000-foot hole in the Baluchistan Province. The site is 275 air miles, but 1000 road miles, northwest of Karachi, in the Kech Band area. Behind the test lies three years of geological and geophysical work representing an investment of $6 million. Nearest oil is 625 airline miles northeast on the Potwar Plateau in West Pakistan, and 600 miles west of Umm Shaif on the Persian Gulf. Tidewater owns 75 percent of the concession with the Pakistani government owning 25 percent. Cost of the operation is shared in the same proportion.
