Description
Symbols circling Berlin represent military units set up by Soviet and Communist East German forces, according to West Germany defense ministry sources. They say 67,500 troops and more than 1,200 tanks are stationed in a girdle 30 miles outside Berlin and that anti-aircraft rocket bases are being built in two rings around the city, one 25 miles out, and other 50 miles from the city center.

Photo is dated 1961.
