Washington, January 3 - The winner - The smile comes easy as Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts poses today after being elected assistant Democratic leader in the Senate. Kennedy unseated Louisiana Senator Russell B. Long by a 31 to 26 vote at a party caucus shortly before opening of the 91st Congress.
