Articles identified with the missing SS Marine Sulphur Queen, which aircraft and vessels located in Florida waters during an extensive search for the tanker in February and March 1963, are displayed here at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters while being examined by the Marine Board of Investigation. The recovered articles included an eight-foot piece of name board seen here in the background, another name board, eight life jackets (some with rips believed caused by sharks teeth), five life rings, one shirt, one piece of oar, one stern oil can, one gasoline...one cone buoy, and one fog horn. U.S. Coast Guard. A haunting mystery of the sea was the disappearance of the Ss Marine Sulphur Queen, above right. Extensive searches for the tanker turned up no trace of ship or crew - except the articles above, a piece of he rnameboard, eight life jackets, five life rings, a shirt, a piece of oar, a buoy, a fog horn, and two fuel cans. she vanished in Florida waters after sailing from Beaumont in February, 1963, with 39 aboard.
