The Pentagon today identified this plane as a Soviet Bear long-range reconnaissance aircraft and said it was the type spotted 70 miles off the North American coastline last February 9. The Pentagon said five Soviet bombers in two flights flew parallel to the Newfoundland coast and were intercepted by American jet fighters. The Soviet planes, the pentagon said, later left the area of their own accord. Airplanes. Russia. Soviet Union. ...same type spotted off
