Houston, Texas - Ramp sign at Ellington Air Force with Air Force Reserve insignia as a Texas National Guard fighter plane takes off on a training mission. The base, along with the Army's Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia were ordered closed by the Pentagon today. Ellington has been the home for the 924th Tactical Airlift Group, AF Reserve; 705th Tactical Airlift Training Squadron, AF Reserve, and the 147th Fighter Interceptor Group of the Air National Guard. The 2,000 acre base at Houston, Texas, was established in November 1917.
