Description
Fort Polk, LA - Under the watchful eye of his coach, a rifleman trainee of Company A, Second Battalion, Third Advanced Individual Training Brigade, fires for record with the M-16 rifle at Ft. Polk's new M-16 transition range. Cited as "model for the entire Army," the new training facility incorporates improvement in design, operation, and target control. Among its several advanced features are 10 control towers - one for each firing lane. This multiple control makes the facility "10 ranged in one," since several different firing problems can be conducted at the same time.

Photo is dated 1969.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
