On Sept. 13, 1968, Joseph A. Venable, an enlisted man who saw combat in World War II and in the Korean War, was killed in action in Vietnam when a helicopter was shot down. As a remembrance from his buddies in the 1st Armored Division, a $1500 scholarship for his daughter, Pamela Ruth, 11, was presented to Venable's widow on Friday. The money is provided by donations from officers and soldiers of the division. Brig. Gen. F. C. Krause, division commander, presents a certificate of the scholarship to Mrs. Venable in her home at 5603 Sanford. Scholarships - Houston
