1953 Press Photo Lady Churchill accepts Nobel Prize from King Gustaf in Sweden

Lady Churchill accepts 1953 Nobel prize for literature on behalf of her husband, Sir Winston Churchill, from King Gustaf during ceremony in Concert hall on Stockholm, Sweden, yesterday. The British Prime Minister's trip to Bermuda for the Big Three conference prevented his being present to accept the award. Lady Churchill, 75, wife of Sir Winston, was reported resting comfortable in St. Mary's Hospital in London after she entered for a 10-day checkup. She was reported to have been feeling the strain of extra duties caused by her 86-year-old husband being laid up by a recent bone fracture in his back.
