Description
Snow-covered Himalaya peaks rise in background in this scene outside Leh, the capital of province of Ladakh in the Indian state of Kashmire. Today Indian troops fell back before Chinese Communist forces in heavy fighting in Ladakh, on the western end of India's Himalayan boundary. Indian troops also fell back before attacking Chinese on the eastern end of the boundary. Battles are being conducted in altitudes of 11,000 feet and higher.
