Description
Harris hawk (Parabuteo Unicinctus) - a black and sepia colored hawk with flashy white rump and white band at tip of tail. Reddish brown on thigh and wing shoulder. Resident of south Texas. Found in mesquite brush and semi-arid country, also along wooded streams. nest consists of platform of sticks in a low tree. Lays three to five eggs. Both sexes incubate. Hatches in about four weeks; both share in raising young. Feeds on small mammals, reptiles and birds. Hawks.
