1973 Press Photo Jack Farr tends to horse in his Willowbend yard in Houston

Description
Horses - Houston. Jack A Farr, a real estate investor, tends to a horse he says someone apparently dragged behind a car and then tied to his porch early this morning at 4601 Creekbend in Willowbend. He made the sign to attract attention, Farr says, so that the horse might be returned to its owner. It not only attracted attention, it caused a traffic jam. At least one irate neighbor spread the word that Farr intended to slaughter the animal, barbecue the meat and give it away in protest of high meat prices. Not so, Farr says. The city pound told him the horse couldn't be picked up for a couple of days. "It's a damn shame the way some people treat dumb animals," he says. Why was his house chosen "I have no idea. Maybe I've got some enemies somewhere," Farr says. Horses - Houston.
