1973 Press Photo Stephen P. Mahoney & Kenneth J. Wiesman Found Counterfeit Check

Counterfeit. Youth Rewarded, Stephen P. Mahoney, 14, of 14754 River Forest Dr., a student at Westchester High School in Spring Branch, receives a $50 savings bond from Kenneth J. Wiesman head of the U.S Secret Service office here, for turning over to lawmen $16,800 in bogus $20 bills the youth and a friend found in a bayou at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1971. Agents said the counterfeit money was part of a $1 million printed in Louisiana. Young Mahoney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Mahoney, also received a good citizenship award. He lived in Baton Rouge at the time of the find.
