Caption: Cincinnati, March 30, 1954 - A sick seal lion - This sea lion is believed to be the first ever to have a tonsillectomy, and from the way she looks, she didn't care for what she got. The veterinarian at the Cincinnati zoo said he never heard of an operation on a mammal for such trouble before. She was drugged by an anesthetic hidden in a fish.
