1978 Press Photo Silverdome Horse-a-rama Mounted Police

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Pontiac's Silverdome is not the place you expect to see a line of horsemen - at least not those on real horses. But Thursday the arena, best known for its football matches, became a practice area for members of Detroit's Mounted Policemen unit, who go over their formation riding in anticipation of an appearance a the Midewest Horse-a-rama Sunday. The even will run from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the Silverdome with competitive events and exhibitions. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children under 12.
