President Carter is putting some pressure on the last vestige of Richard Nixon's political (word obscured): the Campaign to Re-Elect the President campaign fund. A trustee of the $1 million left in the 1972 Campaign Liquidation Trust, Guilford Dudley, says a settlement worked out with the IRS on a $300,000 tax claim has been scuttled by the Carter administration. Dudley says a court fight will now be necessary. The government originally claimed $500,000 but was willing to settle for the lesser amount during the days of President Ford.
