Description
Jean Lafitte, No Joke, Denies He's A Pirate. Jean Lafitte, a collateral descendant of swashbuckling Pirate Jean Lafitte, unswashed his buckle and talked wearily to reporters. "Look" he said. "I went to high school at St. Paul's in Covington. I went to LSU and Georgia Tech. "I get to New Orleans at least once a year, sometimes more. "Why all this excitement because my name is Jean Lafitte?" Mr. Lafitte, a native of La Ceiba, Honduras, couldn't understand it. The other night he walked into Cafe Lafitte, supposedly the blacksmith shop once frequented by the piratical Jean, and ran into unexpected attention.

Photo is dated 1949.

Photo measures 8.25 x 10 inches.
