Description
After a four-day illness, Nicholas Longworth, Speaker of the House of Representatives and son-in--law of President Roosevelt, died of pneumonia at the home of Mrs. James F. Curtis, at Aiken, South Carolina. His amazing vitality alone, physicians said, kept him alive for several hours after oxygen had been used without success. His wife, the former Alice Roosevelt, was at his bedside when the end came. President Hoover is expected to attend the funeral. He is shown with his daughter Paulina at Atlantic City in 1929. Little Paulina is now 6 years old.

Photo is dated 1931.
