Edward Stanley McGrath was born in San Francisco Dec. 12, 1897, he had lived in Portland since 1928. he moved from the railway business to the steamship business. He later was Northwest manager of Sudden & Christenson, Inc., Portland. founder of Stanley Steamship Corp, he was past president of the Brady-Hamilton Stevedore Co. and at the time of his death, was president of Marine Lumber Co., Tigard, an organization he also founded. He was pasr president of Portland Steamship Operators Association, past chairman of the executive committee of Pacific Maritime Association and was twice appointed to the Oregon State Board of Pilot Commissioners. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Al Kader Shrine, Maritime Masonic Lodge, Propeller Club, Multnomah Athletic Club, Waverley Country Club and an alumnus of St. Mary's College
