1927 Press Photo Clara Spriggs and Machine That Automatically Types Letter

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
A record roll is made of the original letter to be typed, in the same way a piano roll is made. It is then inserted in the special machine. A button is pressed and the letter is automatically written at high speed. One of the advantages of the new machine is shown by Miss Clara Spriggs as she reads her magazine while the machine does her work.

Photo is dated 1927.

Photo measures 6.5 x 8.5 inches.
