Paris, France - To be captured by the Germans during the war was relished by allied soldiers but the experience was worth while, at least for Jacques Deroger, sergeant de ville, who paces the region of the Place de la Opera. Monsieur Deroger spent two years in the German prison camps -- and there learned to speak the German language -- in fact perfectly. When a recent ruling of the French police provided for the appointment of a battalion of interpreters to facilitate the movements of visiting German -- M Deroger was chosen. No he wears a brassard on his arm, telling world that he "sprichts deutsch".
