"A hunger for God" exists today, evangelist Billy Graham told a crowd variously estimated at from 20,000 to 45,000 persons that gathered Sunday at the steps of the capitol in Washington. Speaking from the spot at which presidents take the oath of office, the young preacher declared, "If I ran for president on a platform calling the people back to God, back to Christ, back to the Bible, I'd be elected." He delivered two sermons, broadcast nationally. He called for world peace and a day of prayer. Left: Gertrude Dill and Thelma Williamson of Washington joined in the singing.
