Daring Mail Robbery In London: Bandits last night ambushed a Post Office mail van in the tunnel which runs under the Strand in London into Kingsway, and got away with registered mail worth about £30,000, after blocking the entrance with "road closed" signs. They coshed he van driver and stole 80 mailbags. 40 minutes after the raid the Post Office driver, Mr. Walter Smith, aged 67, was dumped from the bandit's car outside a Stepney Hospital. He was suffering from head injuries. Photo shows A "road closed" sign used by the bandits at the entrance to the tunnel.
