Description
Orphan Wallaby travels in a leather bag instead of in Mother's pouch: A regular passenger on the seven mile bus journey from Whipsnade Zoo to Luton each day is 4 month old Penhy, a wallaby who is taken home each evening by Gillian Impey in a leather bag. Cillian, 23 year old head girl at the Zoo's children Section has been given to job of taming Penny so that eventually she will be able to be kept in the children's section on a collar and lead. Normally the wallabies roam wild at the zoo and had Penny's mother not deserted her she would have been travelling in mother's pouch instead of in a leather bag. Penny spends her days at the zoo where already she is a great favourite with the children. At home with Cillian she gets on well with the family dog and Gillian's family will be sorry when she is old enough to live permanently at the zoo. Already Penny is a great favourite with the children at the Zoo, and shows no fear is they play with her.
