Description
The water level of the river Rhine near the eight - metres - mark: The strong rainfalls and the unusual thaw caused that the river Rhine overflow it's banks. Near the city of Bonn/West Germany the water level reached the 7,50 metres mark. Long parts of the quays must be closed. Some streets are totally overflown. All carferries between Duesseldorf/West Germany and Cologne / West Germany are closed. The traffic have to diverted. In the plant in which the West Germany members of Parliament have their offices the entries have to make waterproof. The cities at the shore of the river Rhine fetched the alarm planes for highwaters out of the writing tables.
