Description
New animals for aquarium of Berlin and Dusseldorf. A rare freight yesterday on May 28,1958.by plane was arri¬ving at the air-port Dasseldorf-Lohausen, a crate with four living crocodiles, which a Berlin journalist was carrying home from Brazil for the aquarium of Dusseldorf and Berlin, Miss Ur¬sula Keisinger, who herself was capturing these animals together with some Red Indians, for some time was living in the Amazonas district. During the night the animals are dazzled with a torch, the eyes then are shimmering purple red and at the distance of the eyes it is necessary to recognize the length of the animal, a wrong estimation may be fatal. Gripping it round the neck and the tail, it then will be put into the boat. Prom the four crocodiles two will stay in Dusseldorf and two have to go to Berlin. The animals are about 1 to 1 l/2 years oid and 40 to 60 cm long. In about 15 years they will reach a length of about 5 metres. Our picture shows: Miss Heisinger and director Siloff from the Dusseldorf aquarium. They have got the permission to import 2,3 kg of crocodiles.
