Infanticipating: For nearly two years! - Never let human mums to be complain again about their nine month wait, for this elephant mum-to-be, from the Yala National Park, Ceylon, will wait at least twice that time and probably half as long again! 18 to 22 months, that's the time it takes for an elephant to produce her offspring and for many years she will look after the youngsters with devoted mother care. Although she does have one advantage over many a human mother for before the youngster is born, she will have chosen from the hard, another female elephant, who will take over as uantie and baby sitter whenever necessary! Photo Shows: The Indian elephant mum-to-be in the Yala National Park in Ceylon will have an almost two years wait before she gives birth.
