Derek Jacobi at Home : Derek Jacobi played the title role in the series "I Claudius" it was a performance that earned him enormous acclaim and a reputation as one of this country's finest actors, The part took Derek months to learn due to the peculiar nature of the Emperor Claudius's physical and speech defects. He became so expert at stuttering and shaking his head that for a considerable time after the series he could not stop himself from continuing the habits. At present Derek is taking a well deserved rest having recently returned from a tour - He is soon to tour with the prospect theatre company in Australia.
