The "New Guard" In East-Berlin Changed In to a Monument: The communist authorities of East-Berlin have changed the "New Guard" an early work by Karl Frederich Schinkel (Karl Frederich Schinkel), into a monument for the victims of fascism and militarism. On May 8th, the anniversary of the German capitulation, the monument was opened fro East Berliner public. Photo Shows Changing of the guards in front of the "New Guard".
